Wayfyndr and LA Arena Company partner to deliver guests visiting Arena, L.A. LIVE, and Microsoft Theater the ultimate event companion.

Background Arena (formerly known as Staples Center) is a globally recognized and admired multi-purpose venue located in Downtown Los Angeles. Home to the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers, the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings, and the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks, is an epicenter for live sports, high-profile events, performances, and globally televised shows.

Adjacent to Arena is the L.A. LIVE complex, a four million square foot entertainment district featuring hotels and restaurants, Xbox Plaza, Conga Room, The GRAMMY Museum, and the home of the Primetime Emmy Awards – Microsoft Theater. Arena Interactive Map

The Opportunity

With the 2022/23 NBA season fast approaching and the first phase of Arena renovations completed, there was an immediate need to deliver fans an interactive venue map and event planning resource that could expand to Microsoft Theater and the surrounding L.A. LIVE entertainment district.

Here’s what we needed to deliver:

  1. Simplified Event Planning
    The solution needed to make the planning process stress-free for guests and serve the needs of three distinct guest use cases:Day of event – the guest arrives on campus and wants to know what’s available on that day in-venue and on campus.
    Future specific event – the guest is planning on coming to an event at a specific venue in the future and wants to see the floor-plan, and learn what will be open and available at that event. For example, a concert will have a different floor plan than a basketball game, with different concession locations open.
    Planning a general visit – the guest is looking to visit L.A. LIVE, Arena, and/or Microsoft Theater and would like to see what is generally available at that venue.
  2. Ease of Access
    Any guest with a smartphone needed to be able to access and use the platform by going to the website, clicking a link in an email, or scanning a QR code on-site. No downloading required!
  3. Simple Content Distribution & Management
    While each venue would be built on a separate instance of Wayfyndr, it was imperative that administrators could manage content for all three venues through a single content management system. In addition, allowing for content to be shared across instances would save time on duplicate content entry.
  4. Third Party Integrations
    The solution needed to seamlessly integrate with 3rd party platforms and systems to automatically feed in events, menus and pricing. Arena Interactive Map

The Solution

With help from the incredible team at Arena, L.A. LIVE, and Microsoft Theater, we launched three venue-specific guest resources –,, and – each delivering visitors centralized information, event planning tools, and a detailed multi-level interactive venue map.

An integration with VenueNext (Shift4) enables automatic menu creation, menu management, and access to mobile ordering, while an integration with Carbonhouse CMS allows events to be dynamically created and assigned to each respective venue.

In a high traffic environment, where time wasted waiting and locating can lead to reduced guest satisfaction, Wayfyndr successfully provided all three venues with a friction-free resource for guests to access the information and resources needed to streamline and enhance their visit.
